After making the decision to train for the 2020 Olympic games I decided to undergo yoga teacher training, just figuring it would be a good way to earn money as a part time job while I continued swimming.

More and more I began to notice what my yoga practice did for me mentally. Again, coming at it from a swim perspective - it was a tool to help me get and stay into flow.

Recently I’ve shifted into the space of embracing the totality of what yogic practice is truly about. From my understanding it's moving past both physical and mental and dropping into the energetic realm. Into a state of just being. It has become a way, a way for me to show up more fully in the moments of life.

Source yoga is a practice in itself, a sharing of my experience on the continuous journey of discovery through yoga and swimming.

My hope is to provide a collaborative source of education, inspiration and connection as we move together to explore the depths of true being.

Why Yoga

In third grade I was diagnosed with scoliosis. It was severe enough to the point doctors recommended inserting a metal rod to help straighten the curve and prevent it from getting worse. I had just started swimming and as an active eight year old girl this would severely limit my ability to flip, bend, jump and bounce around. My mom looked into alternative options and came across Ellis Browning Miller  who taught yoga specific for scoliosis. At that point it was more like a chore just some stretching to help my back from hurting.

Through middle and high school I wore a back brace to bed, while also routinely icing a chronic shoulder injury - attributed to the uneven pulls and over compensation of the right side due to the imbalance.

When I discovered yoga again in college I was drawn to it from a physical perspective. The strengthening and stretching component was supplemented swim training.
