FAQs
-
A: Not at all! This retreat is about enjoying the experience in a way that feels good for you. If you’d rather relax on the boat or stay back at the cabin, that’s completely okay.
-
This retreat is best suited for swimmers with some open water or endurance swimming experience. If you’ve mostly swum in lakes, that’s totally fine! We’ll be swimming in a supportive group, and you’re always welcome to hop on the boat if you need a break. The focus is on enjoying the water, not pushing limits.
-
Yes, a wetsuit is mandatory for all swims. The ocean temperature in August ranges from 18-22°C (64-72°F), and a wetsuit provides warmth, buoyancy, and added safety. If you don’t have one, you can bring your own or rent one from us. Alternatively, Blue70 has offered participants a 25% discount on all products!
-
We understand things come up! If you need to adjust your departure time, let us know in advance so we can help coordinate your travel.
-
Yes, the cabin has WiFi, but reception on Hornby Island can be spotty. Consider this an opportunity to unplug and be present!
-
Absolutely! While we provide a variety of nourishing meals and snacks, feel free to bring anything extra that makes you feel your best.
-
Weather on Hornby can be unpredictable, so pack layers! A cozy sweater and pants are perfect for the mornings and evenings. A rain jacket is a great addition too!
-
Completely optional! We will have mats, blocks and bolsters but if you prefer to bring your own, you are welcome to!
